Perch Fishing:
Perch are very common in Ontario and found everywhere in the Clearwater Lake / Pipestone chain of lakes. Perch are generally 9 to 11 inches but sometimes Jumbo Perch up to ½ pound have been caught. Perch are considered the best tasting fresh water fish by many and it's a great way to bring a mess of fish home for the big fish fry because you are allowed to keep 50 with a sports fishing license.
You will find Perch on the edge of the weed beds. You can use tiny jigs or just a straight hook with a little bit of worm and fish right below the boat. You can also throw your anchor in the thick weeds and drag it out and stir up the mud. That will bring all the Perch out of the weeds and you just fill up your bucket with them.
